Meet Anne

Biography

Anne Denis (pronounced deh-nee) is a pianist and teacher based in Beaverton, Oregon. Prior to her move to the Pacific Northwest in 2010, Anne grew up in Buffalo, New York. With dreams of becoming a professional musician, Anne attended the State University of New York College at Fredonia, receiving a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance, a Master of Music degree at The Ohio State University, and has completed all coursework in the University of Memphis Doctor of Musical Arts program. Anne remains active as a performer and teacher in the Portland area. She most recently completed a two year Tholen fellowship through Portland Piano International. Anne champions the music of lesser known composers and more recently has performed the music of Florence Price in the UK and France. Anne competed in the Brahms International Piano Competition in Austria and has previously served on the college piano faculty at Villa Maria College in Buffalo, New York. Anne has a home piano studio where she provides music instruction to students of all ages on a beautiful Shigeru Kawai SK-6 grand piano.

Piano Lessons

Anne is a dedicated piano teacher with over 25 years of experience. Her former students have been accepted to college with music scholarships, won local and national competitions, and have performed at Carnegie Hall. Anne specializes in teaching healthy piano technique and has had success with retraining transfer students. She stresses a well-rounded approach to learning music, focusing not only on technique/relaxation but also music theory, reading, musical detail, and interpretation. Anne's students range in age from 5-80 years old. For more information on piano lessons, please fill out the contact page.
